Support and enhance capacity building or CSET - Community System to End TB

SCDI implemented the CSET (Community System to End TB) project to provide support to the National TB Program in actively detecting TB and latent TB cases. The project proactively aided successful treatment for TB and latent TB cases, ensuring the completion of treatment. In the first 9 months of the year, the project screened nearly 24,000 individuals, identifying 234 active TB cases and 471 latent TB cases within the community. Because of the active TB screenings, many people have been diagnosed early, enabling timely treatment and preventing further transmission within the community.

Active tuberculosis screening to find TB and latent TB cases in the community

Together with the provincial TB program, the project actively detected latent TB and TB cases, and provided proactive support for successful treatment of TB and latent TB cases to ensure completion of treatment. The project also focused on connecting, strengthening, and enhancing the capacity of the Community Network to End Tuberculosis (CSET), encouraging the network's participation in TB response in the provinces and cities where the project was implemented. Additionally, SCDI mobilized and strengthened the capacity of HIV-based Community-Based Organizations (CBOs) to actively participate in the TB program.

With the desire to contribute to the tuberculosis prevention and control in Gia Lai, in 2021, SCDI supported 5,000 meals and 200 milk cartons to improve the physical health of TB patients during treatment. However, due to the complicated development of COVID-19, the program was interrupted. Therefore, in 2022, SCDI collaborated with the Gia Lai Tuberculosis Program to implement active tuberculosis screening in the community.
